The Alzheimer Society of Ireland with support from Irish Hospice Foundation developed a brochure which provides information and practical advice to support people with dementia in making decisions about what is important to them now and into the future.

Living Well with Dementia
Living Well with Dementia compromises of 4 pilot projects, supported by Genio Trust. They aim to develop new services and supports for people affected by dementia. These projects, representing 4 different geographical locations, are identifying, mobilising and developing community-based supports with the aim of enabling people with dementia to remain at home living full lives.

Dementia Services Information and Development Centre (DSiDC) 
The Dementia Services Information and Development Centre (DSiDC), established in 1998, is a national centre for excellence in dementia and is committed to best practice in all aspects of dementia care. Our vision is of a society where the civil and legal rights of people with dementia are fully respected and they are able to participate in the making of all decisions that affect them without discrimination or prejudice.

Alzheimer’s Society (NI)
Alzheimer’s Society NI is part of the UK charity leading in support and research for people with dementia. They are passionate about helping anyone affected by dementia get the most out of life and stay connected to the people who matter most.

DemTalk
The DemTalk project was facilitated by the Alzheimer’s Society and involved tapping into the expertise and real-life experiences of experts, family members and people living with dementia. DemTalk is a free, web-based toolkit to help improve communication with people with dementia.

SCIE – Dementia awareness e-learning course
The Open Dementia e-learning Programme is aimed at anyone who comes into contact with someone with dementia and provides a general introduction to the disease and the experience of living with it. Please note these courses are provided free of charge on an ‘as seen’ basis.

Neurological Alliance of Ireland
Established in 1996, The Neurological Alliance of Ireland is recognised as a valuable source of info for people in Ireland with neurological conditions, and their families. It is an umbrella organisation that represents over 30 nonprofits working with conditions in this area, including stroke, migraine, epilepsy, acquired brain

Huntington’s Disease Association of Ireland
HDAI is a national voluntary organisation established by HD family members. It provides consultation, information and individualised support to those diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, those at risk, family members and health and social care professionals. Confidentiality is guaranteed.

Huntington’s Disease Northern Ireland 
The Huntington’s Disease Association Northern Ireland (HDANI) was originally set up in 1976 by a group of family members who, in the absence of other accessible resources, desperately needed to provide some peer advice and mutual support for other families in Northern Ireland living with HD.

Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association
The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) is the only organisation of its kind providing care and support to people with Motor Neurone Disease, their families, friends and carers. This year we are marking 30 years of caring for people with MND and we have been providing these services since the 1st May 1985

Motor Neurone Disease Association NI
The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on MND care, research and campaigning. This is a membership organisation with nearly 8,000 members forming a national and local network that offers information and support alongside fighting for improved services.

MS Ireland has a vision of Irish society where all people affected by MS live positive and active lives in the community. Their principal objectives are to facilitate people with MS to live with dignity and participate in the community, to provide support for the families and carers of people with MS, to promote scientific research in this area, to provide info about MS to those who need it.

MS Society NI
This is the Northern Ireland’s leading charity dedicated to beating MS. They provide support and services to people affected by MS including advice, counselling, physiotherapy and financial support. They also work to raise awareness of MS and to make MS a priority at political level.

MyAware 
MyAware is the new name for the Myasthenia Gravis Association. They support people with myasthenia and their families, increase public and medical awareness of the condition and raise funds for research and support staff. They provide info, advice, support, and free access to their resource centre.

Neurofibromatosis Association of Ireland (NF Ireland)
The Neurofibromatosis Association of Ireland delivers essential services to families affected by Neurofibromatosis. Currently their main focus is on the development of services at the Neurofibromatosis clinic at Our Lady’s Hospital. They also provide a free counselling service which can make a real difference to those diagnosed with this genetic condition.

The Parkinson’s Association of Ireland is a charity, based in Dublin with branches throughout the country. Move4Parkinson
Move4Parkinson’s was founded by Margaret Mullarney who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Margaret discovered there is a huge range of activities that people with Parkinson’s (PWP’s) can undertake to improve their quality of life. Their services work to improve PWPs’ understanding of their illness, improve active self-management, and reduce symptoms. They also aim to serve the families and carers of PWP’s to build a supportive community for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.
